In newspapers and magazines

Ilta-Sanomat, a leading evening paper in Finland, published an extensive feature on custody battles and parental alienation, a topic on which I wrote in my blog. The feature was published both in print and online.

Iltalehti, Finland’s other major evening paper, has published my interviews on several occasions both online and in the weekend print editions. Several of my comments were quoted in the paper’s large divorce survey.

My interviews have regularly been among the most read articles and a heated discussion in the reader comment section and on Facebook usually continues long after.

A popular home magazine Kotivinkki wrote about the dual household living solution I have promoted. The pictures for the article were taken in Helsinki’s Munkkiniemi during the cherry blossom season. These are my favourite pictures! The abundance of flowers was simply magnificent!

Kauneus ja Terveys -lehti: Top 3 parisuhdekirjat

The popular health and beauty magazine Kauneus ja Terveys reviewed three best relationship guides in connection with its relationship theme interviews. The (R)evolution for Love: A Better Relationship or a Brilliant Break Up? made the top 3! The article (in Finnish) can be read here.

Interviewed in the main auditorium at Turku Book Fair 2019 with Tony Dunderfelt, a noted psychologist, writer and speaker, by Kauneus ja Terveys magazine on the topic of improving relationships and facing break ups. After the interview Tony and I moved on to the book stands to sign copies of our books and carry on the interested discussion. Amazing experience!

”(R)evolutio for Love does not tell you what to do: it encourages you to think for yourself."

The local but widely read newspaper Länsiväylä stated in its weekend edition that “divorce was no cause for panic, the same message as in this blog!

The newspaper published a review of my book, The (R)evolution for Love, praising its practical exercises. After the interview, I stayed on to chat with the journalist about the exercises and their usefulness in various life situations and needs. The journalist had found the 57 mental exercises highly relevant in her life, regardless of the relationship aspect.

I was really pleased and proud by this observation, which many other readers have also made (read more reader feedback).

The review discussed several aspects of the book, and ultimately crystallised the main message as “The (R)evolution for love does not spoon-feed readers with ready-made answers. It helps you to think for yourself.”

"Stop procrastinating!"

The review discussed several aspects of the book, and ultimately crystallised the main message as “The (R)evolution for love does not spoon-feed readers with ready-made answers. It helps you to think for yourself.”

Sielunpeili, a magazine focusing on mental wellbeing included a high-profile feature article on the first signs of a relationship heading for the rocks and how people could stop getting stuck in a never-ending cycle of indecision regarding their relationship. This is also the topic on which I wrote the in-depth book and the more concise e-Book To Break Up or Not to Break Up, which can be downloaded for free from this website.

I have been pleased to see that many of the key ideas I discuss in my books have caught the wider attention of the press and the reading public: love and freedom and approaching the idea of a break up with a positive attitude – especially if the aim is to achieve a happy relationship. In my interview for Sielunpeili, I said:

“I think that allowing yourself even to think about the possibility of breaking up is all about respecting the other person and respecting the freedom of both of you. By not hanging on to your relationship tooth and nail, you give yourself the chance to open up to your partner in a completely new way.”

Kati Niemi, author of The (R)evolution for Love in Sielunpeili magazine.

Openness is the basis for intimacy, trust and genuine love. By allowing yourself even to think about the possibility of breaking up is all about respecting the other person and respecting the freedom of both of you.

"A must-read for anyone thinking about divorce. Strong recommendation!"

Rakkauden (r)evoluutio mediassa: Monikkoperheet-lehti

Monikkoperheet, a magazine aimed at multiple birth families, also gave a thumbs-up on my book:

We warmly recommend this book to anyone.

It’s always humbling and exciting to receive message from friends who have spotted reviews and mentions of my book in the media!

One morning I received a picture message from my friend: my book had made it to the cover of the weekend edition of a widely-read local free magazine in Helsinki. Another friend, who had also received the magazine gave me a copy.

"New thinking challenges old taboos and beliefs"

Another local newspaper wrote “The book talks about ways of improving our relationships, but also introduces completely new approaches to obsolete taboos and beliefs.” The article went on to describe my defiantly positive approach to the possibility of breaking up:

“Everyone should embrace the idea of divorce or break up with acceptance, especially is the aim is to salvage a relationship and live happy ever after. Allowing yourself to neutrally think about the possibility of breaking up could actually strengthen your relationship because then the arguments and at times dreary life as a couple is not a threat to your sense of security. If you are constantly afraid of rejection, it is difficult to be your authentic self to your partner. So if you want to be seen and accepted by your partner, you must be able to open up and expose yourself to potential rejection.”

Kati Niemi: (R)evolution for Love – A Better Relationship or a Brilliant Break Up?

The article makes the crucial point that the book is not about giving the readers ready-made answers. Instead, it asks you to think about hundreds of questions and introduces new, positive thoughts about relationships and breaking up. It helps the reader to unearth their fixed ideas and rigid beliefs so that they can themselves begin to think and to discover the answers they are looking for.

Tapiola-Westend -lehden kansijuttu: "Rakkauden (r)evoluutio tuo esille uusia ajatusmalleja vanhoihin tabuihin ja uskomuksiin"

This article went on to be syndicated in several local newspapers in the Helsinki region

"Divorce is not just about you."

The popular women’s magazine Me Naiset interviewed not only me but also my mother and two friends, who are also good friends with my ex-husband, for their feature article. In the six-page feature “Why divorce affects everyone around you,” my divorce was one of the cases discussed, including how people close to me felt about it. “What is it like when a couple you know well splits up after 20 years of marriage?”

Rakkauden (r)evoluutio mediassa: Me Naiset

"A successful CFO who studied relationships for two years and wrote a book about divorce: 'We stay in bad marriages for too long'."

Helsinki Book Fair 2019

I appeared at Helsinki Book Fair interviewed by Enna Kulo. After the interview, I went to my publisher Art House’s stand only to hear about the heart-warming feedback from my readers:

“Do you have Kati Niemi’s (R)evolution for Love? I’ve already read it but I would like to buy my own copy, because it has really helped improve my relationship. And my friend wants a copy too because they are just considering getting a divorce.”

What is (R)evolution for Love all about?

The book is not only a guide for navigating successfully through a divorce or separation but also for building a happier relationship.

(R)evolution for Love helps you reach a decision and to change the course of your relationship to achieve the best possible outcome for you and your loved ones. The aim is to encourage the reader to make a decision and to truly commit to this decision, whether it is to leave or stay in their current relationship.

(R)evolution for Love – A Better Relationship or a Brilliant Break Up, fittingly published on Valentine’s Day, focuses on the difficulty of men and women reaching a decision about their relationship: is the relationship still worth saving or would it be better to take it to a happy and successful end?

New thinking challenging old taboos

(R)evolution for Love is highly practical in its approach to relationship problems. Even more importantly, it introduces a new way of thinking and challenges old taboos: instead of fear, we should embrace the idea of divorce or break up with acceptance, especially is the aim is to salvage a relationship and live happy ever after. Allowing yourself to neutrally think about the possibility of breaking up could actually strengthen your relationship because then the arguments and at times dreary life as a couple is not a threat to your sense of security. If you are constantly afraid of rejection, it is difficult to be your authentic self to your partner. So if you want to be seen and accepted by your partner, you must be able to open up and expose yourself to potential rejection.

The book does not offer readers ready-made answers. Instead, it asks you to think about hundreds of questions and introduces new, positive thoughts about relationships and breaking up. It helps the reader to unearth their fixed ideas and rigid beliefs so that they can themselves begin to think and to discover the answers they are looking for.

The book includes plenty of true stories about happy and unhappy relationships and break ups as told by the men and women I interviewed for the book. They serve as eye-openers for the readers to see their own relationship problems more clearly. It is so much easier to mend your relationship once you know what’s broken.

The reasons behind a break up are as unique as the relationship. The book is an excellent tool in finding clarity in an overwhelming situation and helps us understand why we keep on procrastinating our final decision.

The book comes with nearly 60 engaging and thought-provoking exercises that will help the reader to analyse their hopes and dreams as well as beliefs and fears.
